6. Is my carpet more susceptible of getting soiled sooner after I have had it cleaned? 

It depends on the process and the types of solutions used. If, for example, hot water extraction was used with a solution that leaves a dry, brittle residue ­ no. The solution is rinsed almost completely out with this method, and the residue is easily vacuumed up. Also, a dry, brittle residue will not continue to attract dirt once dry. If the carpet was shampooed, with a soapy solution that leaves a sticky residue ­ yes. The solution is left in the carpet and vacuumed when dry. The sticky residue clings to the fibers and continues to attract dirt, soiling the carpet again. 

7. What is the correct type of cleaning solution? 

It depends on the fiber of the carpet. The manufacturer would be able to tell you the safe pH range for your carpet fiber. For example, the safe pH range for wool is 5.5-8.0; stain resistant nylon is under 10.0, but cotton will dissolve in a very low pH. You also want to make sure that the solution has a dry brittle residue that is easily vacuumed. Hint: If you pour a little into the bottom of a clean, clear glass cup and let it evaporate, you can examine the residue. 

8. My wall-to-wall carpet has stains in various places. These include ink, food and beverage stains. How can I remove them?

Many stubborn stains can be removed by wetting out the area and blotting up the stain. Care should be taken not to let the stain run onto a larger area. Always blot the wetted area with an absorbent paper towel or clean white cloth. Do not rub or brush as this can cause irreversible color running and pile damage as well as set the stain. Some stains cannot be removed using normal household cleansers. Do not treat stubborn stains with more vigorous mechanical action or potentially dangerous chemicals. Consult an expert. He will know what to do.
 

9. How often should my carpet be cleaned? 

We recommend professional cleaning at least every 12 months. Just like the largest carpet MANUFACTURERS in the world do because of the extra life it gives your carpet.
 

10. Why is the 2-step hot water extraction the method most carpet makers recommend? 

In order to get anything truly clean, you need to use water to flush out the cleaning agents and dirt. Hot water extraction is the method that uses a flushing process to remove dirt. (Imagine washing your clothes and not rinsing them. That’s what happens to carpet cleaned without the hot water extraction method.) The CLEAN ZONE Two-Step Deep Clean system uses a two-step cleaning process: a pre-conditioning cleaning spray to loosen soil and a combination hot water fibre rinse and a powerful vacuum to extract and remove both the cleaning solution and the dirt.

11. Why is vacuuming important? 

The most important thing you can do to keep your carpet looking great is to vacuum it thoroughly and frequently, particularly in high-traffic areas. Vacuuming helps remove dirt particles which dull the carpet’s appearance and damage the carpet fibres. Also, use walk-off mats at entrances to minimize dirt particles being tracked onto the carpet and to reduce soil accumulation.
